Comedy for a Cause

Comedy for a Cause was a fund raising event for the benefit of Community Partnership School of North Philadelphia. It took place at Mitten Hall at Temple University. We were lucky enough to catch the attention of Bill Cosby who offered us his talents as the master of ceremonies for the evening. My co-chair and I spent a lot of time getting to know Dr. Cosby and we will remain eternally grateful for his support. Charles L. Blockson was this years honoree. He is a remarkable historian and quite the gentleman. The Charles L. Blockson Afro-American Collection is one of the nation’s leading research facilities for the study of the history and culture of people of African descent. This collection of over 30,000 items has materials on the global black experience in all formats: books, manuscripts, sheet music, pamphlets, journals, newspapers, broadsides, posters, photographs, and rare ephemera. Bill Harris and Gary Goldman capped the evening off their comedy. The evening was an overwhelming success.
