Community Partnership School is an independent school in North Philadelphia that seeks to provide high quality education to children of low-wealth families. I have served on the board and on the development committee for many years. My primary role has been to design and facilitate major fund raising events. Along with the amazing group of volunteers, co-chairs and support staff, we have been successful in raising hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years. For the first time, this years event took place at my home. The renowned chef Marc Vetri, along with his partners, Jeff Benjamin (also a CPS board member),and Jeff Michaud, provided the amazing food. Dave Barrus of Vox Vocal studio, Les Miserable on Broadway and the cofounder of Broadway Dreams Foundation donated his time and visited the students at the learning center to ready them for the evenings performance. Broadway star, and teacher at Broadway Dreams Foundation, Quentin Earl Darrington, performed John Lennon’s Imagine with the students and melted all of our hearts.
