The plane ascended and the city got smaller and smaller and the tears would not, could not stop. The lyrics played in my head “if you’re going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair”. She had been singing it all summer…. and now there would be deafening quiet. If you think I am being overly dramatic, you may not have ever dropped your baby (albeit 18 year old baby) 2,523 miles (as the crow flies) away. Talia is one of the bravest people I have ever met. The voices around her easily blocked out, and her journey mapped out by her, and her alone. She embraces the world of dance and performance with everything she has. I believe in this girl, with everything I have. I really meant it when I taught my children to shoot for the moon, I just forgot how far away the moon is.
We put together her apartment that she shares with another dancer on a tight budget. We dyed fabrics, spray painted, visited flea markets, and worked really hard. We all love the results!
