Opening Doors

Oct 9, 2014 | Tallulah Blooms

I have served on the board of Community Partnership school for seven years now and it has been one of the true joys of my life.  CPS seeks to provide the same quality education that my own children were blessed to receive, to the children of North Philadelphia and the surrounding neighborhoods.  These neighborhoods are woefully under served, but these children are full of life, hope, talent and love.  If there is one thing that unifies all of us, it is the desire to provide the best education possible to our children. CPS makes this desire a reality. The school is an independent school which gives the administrators and teachers the flexibility to utilize the curriculum similar to the best private schools in the area.  It also means that there is no public funding to keep the school afloat.  CPS relies on private support and we are so grateful to the generosity that keeps the doors open.  We have watched our students move on to schools like Springside, CHA , Norwood, Penn Charter, Haverford and Germantown Academy to name a few.

It is a remarkable gift that Kurfiss Sotheby’s International Realty sponsored this evening to benefit this beloved school. As most of you know, along with my Philadelphia based Interior Design business Tallulah & Bird, I am a licensed agent and have recently moved to Kurfiss Sotheby’s.  Donald Pearson readily agreed to sponsor this event after visiting the school with me.  He became as enchanted as I am with the students, teachers and administrators. The catch phrase “opening doors”, came to me easily, because support like this from Donald is what keeps the doors open at CPS. The Vetri family of restaurants readily agreed to provide the food and as always, wowed the crowd with a spectacular spread.  Jeff Benjamin and Marc Vetri, you are a classy twosome and you run an amazing company.  Jim Boggia graced the halls with his velvety tone and remarkable guitar skills. I can not thank my co-chair and dear friend Kelly Korman enough. She is a true talent and all the graphics related to this event are created by her. I am not sure what I would do without Kelly.  Thank you so much to my partner in real estate Michala Costello.  You are one of the most joyful people I know. Talia Regan, you were a god send getting ready for this and I love you completely.  Jeffrey James – thanks for putting up with the ongoing madness that living with me entails. Enjoy the photos that were mostly taken by Drew Callaghan (I took a few myself!) as a gift tot the school and consider learning more about Community Partnership School!
