This chic, rustic, modern cottage redefines the art of luxurious beach living. Clarity in forms and floor plan, practical adjacencies, materials that will patina with age and intensify the desired character. A coalescence of new, sleek materials and well worn reclaimed and antique elements enhance and customize the design concept. The result is substantive and energetic while at once alluring and inviting. With a strong connection to the environment on which it sits, the home was designed to embrace the awe inspiring view of the bay from every room. The lifestyle of the homeowners correlates seamlessly with the philosophy of the designer to create provocative spaces that are an amalgamation of textures and a synthesis of ideology. The forms of the exterior are unfussy and strong and elevated by the use of natural materials, such as brick, cedar, flagstone and iron. Upon entry, the home immediately embraces the outdoors with a seamless view to the water. The reclaimed, extra wide oak floors, fashioned from old barn beams flank the floors throughout. The interior color palette was conceived organically from the sand, sky, driftwood and water. Each light fixture carefully curated to elevate the overall aesthetic and articulate the negative space. The first floor great room was created with comfort and entertaining in mind. A wet bar, brick fireplace, game table and linen furnishings intended for family gatherings and parties. The second floor living space is open and dramatic. A 16’, stained concrete island and slab marble back splash both luxe and rustic. Following the theme of true comfort, the linen upholstery, including a daybed invite relaxation. Each of the six bedrooms is an en suite and the master enjoys a magnificent panoramic view of the bay. A beautiful, evocative retreat, simultaneously modern and timeless.
